Quarterly Meeting for NCDDP’s 7th Year Project Cycle Held in Nay Pyi Taw

The National Community Driven Development Project (NCDDP) organized the quarterly meeting for the 7th Year Project Cycle of its development activities at the Office #36 of the Department of Rural Development (DRD) under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MOALI) in Nay Pyi Taw on 10 January 2020.

A total of 120 participants at the event included NCDDP’s consultants and technical assistant team members, representatives from the World Bank, township project officers and DRD township officers from 54 respective townships across the country, and the non-government organizations that are implementing the sub-project activities, in collaboration with DRD, in respective regions.

U Khant Zaw , Director General for the DRD of MOALI in Nay Pyi Taw delivered the opening remarks at the meeting, and respective township project officers presented respective project implementation activities, work plans, needs and challenges for their respective townships. At the meeting, U Khant Zaw , Director General for the DRD, gave specific guidelines, suggestions and instructions to the respective officials to fulfill the requirements and settle the issues.

In his briefing, the Director General, said that the NCDDP and DRD project officers and staff members should strictly follow the rules and regulations of the NCDDP while implementing the activities in the respective regions, to closely monitor the quality of the construction activities, such as building roads and bridges carried out for the sub-project activities, to be aware of the conflict sensitivities while carrying out the activities and to practice Safety First policy especially in conflict areas.

With the support of the World Bank and other development partners, the NCDDP project has been implementing the development activities in 63 townships of the 15 state and regions across the country since 2013.

With the surplus from the previous years' project cycles and further funding support from Japan Social Development Fund (JSDF), the NCDDP is planning to hold “Townships Selection Consultation Meetings” at the respective capitals of 13 regions across the country early this year, in January and February, to expand the project coverage to 13 additional townships in the 13 Regions, apart from Nay Pyi Taw Union territory and Kayah State, of which all the townships have been covered by the NCDDP project implemented by DRD since 2013.
