Staff from Department of Rural Development (Community Driven Development Project) visited PNPM-Mandiri, Indonesia

A team with the union level project members and township officers are led by U Hla Khaing (Deputy Director for Department of Rural Development), U Kyaw Swar Aung, Daw Me Me Htwe visited Indonesia to study PNPM-Mandiri (National Program For Community Empowerment Project) implemented by Ministry for Human Development and Culture, Indonesia from 12 Jan 2015 to 17 Jan 2015.

On the first day of the excursion, the team members met with responsible representatives from the World Bank and PNPM- Mandiri at the Hall of Ministry for Human Development and Culture, Jakarta. Then, the officer from PNPM-Mandiri explained the process of implementing the projects, difficulties and challenges encountered in the conflict area and U Hla Khaing (a group leader (Deputy Director)) also discussed the activities of Community Driven Development Projects in Myanmar and exchanged information.

After that, the team members visited the villages in Salahutu Sub-district and Laihitu Sub-district in the area of Ambon Town, Maluku District, Indonesia and met with village PNPM-Mandiri committee members and studied the approach for implementing the project in conflict area and explored road, bridge, water supply system, village market and village clinic which are taken up by the village community itself.
